In nearly thirty years since transitioning from Banking to Oil & Gas I have moved through global commodity trading, to business development and origination, then on to strategy and project development, and most recently CCUS and energy transition project development. With a depth of experience through the entire value chain, from the well-head to the burner tip, domestically and internationally, I bring a unique perspective on the connections between markets. Importantly, I came to business development and project development the commercial side, so I know what systems and deals need to be in place after the project is approved, in addition to how to get the project approved.
My strategic recommendations have re-written company profiles and resulted in a $1B+ acquisition at one employer, a $3B+ step-out new-build project at another, and a $2.5B supply contract at a third (the largest contract that company had signed to date). But drafting the strategies was just the start of these processes. No strategy is successful until it is executed. Success required constant attention to detail; a rigorous process to track progress and minimize risk; and the ability to negotiate supply and offtake agreements that generated a positive ROI.
Working for some of the world’s leading energy companies has enabled me to learn their versions of best practices, to compare and contrast their approaches, and find a balance of process that is effective without being needlessly burdensome.
